Cosmetic

Procedures

Botulinum toxin type A

This product is used for the treatment of dynamic wrinkles and lines on the frown, forehead, next to eyes (crow's feet). The advantages of this cosmetic procedure are as follows:

  • It is safe, effective and painless.
  • It lasts three to six months.
  • There is no downtime.
Dermal fillers

Derma fillers are used for the treatment of permanent/static wrinkles and lines on the forehead, cheeks and around the mouth, as well as for soft tissue augmentation in areas of age-related volume loss. After the treatment, patients may experience the following:

  • Slight discomfort or tenderness.
  • Minor bruising.

The advantages of this cosmetic procedure are as follows:

  • It lasts for nine to fifteen months (depending on the products used).
  • There is no downtime.
Microneedling

Microneedling is used for the treatment of acne scars and hypertrophic wound scars, sun damage, aging, hyperpigmentation (melasma), acne, rosacea volume loss, sagging skin, fine lines, wrinkles and stretch marks.

Microneedling is performed with the an electrical pen utilising a multi-needle cartridge that pierces the skin. Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, Retinoid creams and other high quality serums are used during the needling procedure. This results in fibroblast and connective tissue regeneration. It is performed under local anaesthetic. Patients may experience the following:

  • Bruising.
  • Two to three days of downtime.

For scarring: 4-6 sessions, spaced 6-8 weeks apart.

For hyperpigmentation: 3-4 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

For anti-aging purposes: 2-3 session per year are advised.

Chemical peels

Chemical peels are used for the treatment of skin surface anomalies – dull skin, rough patches, aging, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring and large pores. A variety of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peels are available ranging in strengths from 12% to 20%.

The face is cleaned and the acid applied in layers until a satisfactory frosting effect is obtained. Thereafter neutralising and repair creams are applied. Redness (one to three days) is followed by peeling (three to five days) and resembles an episode of severe sunburn. Patients may experience minor discomfort. The following should be noted:

  • Downtime is not needed if camouflage is worn.
  • It is crucial to avoid the sun for two to four weeks.

We recommend 3-4 peels in 2-3 week intervals for hyperpigmentation.

For maintenance/anti-aging purposes 2-3 peels per year are advised.

Combined with PRP/microneedling.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT)

This treatment is prescribed for superficial skin cancers, sun damage, aging and inflammatory acne.

A photosensitizer is applied to the affected area for three hours. Thereafter the skin is irradiated by a red light source. The resultant reaction leads to cell damage/death that destroys cancerous cells. After the inflammation settles, the skin has a rejuvenated appearance and the risk for skin cancer is reduced. This procedure is safe and effective but patients may experience the following:

  • Pain/discomfort during the procedure.
  • Redness/peeling for one week after the procedure.

Two sessions (one week apart) are recommended for cancerous lesions and a single session is needed for the other indications.
